5 minutes from the Jingmei subway (MRT) in southern Taipei lies the neighborhood hiking area, Xian Ji Yan, 仙跡岩. Walk east of the MRT past a park until you arrive at the intersection below. Turn right until you see the trail entrance just on the left.
The very well constructed and clean path provides a great juxtaposition between the dense green forest and the dense concrete forest.
Meander down the side paths for lush surroundings and random sculptures.
At the highest point sits a large temple with a large communal area of picnic tables. The views speak for themselves.
The backside of the mountain has some great picnic spots as well.
On the weekends you are bound to have some company, though not crowded at all.
I decided to take a different unmarked path down…
…and found myself amongst shacks tucked into the hillside and a pleasant little alley.
At the bottom I found the alleyway was another path entryway.
Here is the street view to help you find this entrance as another option to discover this area.
At the end of your hike, treat yourself to a rice burger of diced pork or beef at Mosburger, yummy!
