The first weekend of April in China and Taiwan is a four day weekend. It is Tomb Sweeping Festival 清明節 and is similar to Memorial day in the US. Lucky for Jason this means a four day birthday weekend for him and more Taipei discovery for us.
Our first adventure day we enjoying the rainy day at the National Palace Museum. It has the most gorgeous grounds!
Saturday was a jam packed day of fun! Our first trip was visiting the flower and plant market to get supplies for our apartment herb garden. I love Spring!
After returning home with our new herbs, we ventured out for a nice bottle of wine to take to the hot springs. 新北頭，Xin Bei Tou, is the best area closest to downtown Taipei for soaking. We found the perfect mom and pop place to enjoy a private bathing experience. So relaxing
Next it was sushi time! Check out this presentation and cuts, oh yeah!
That’s a content birthday boy 😉
The day was cold and windy, but the rain had subsided, so we made it to the gondolas! These gondolas are special as some have glass bottom surfaces, so fun to be whisked away over the city.
When you arrive at the top, it’s tea house heaven. The normal thing to do is you buy your own bag of tea and pay a service fee to enjoy it for as long as you like. Of course there are full menus if you’re hungry too. It’s the perfect way to take in full relaxation at the end of the weekend.
