It’s February 1st, 2014, Happy Chinese New Year!!
Day 3 of vacation we set off for the perched coastal city of Jiufen to tackle the highest point in the area for awesome coastal views. This doesn’t look like a difficult trek, though the main path is mostly straight up! So, prepare your calves well.
Despite the crowds in Jiufen, the mountain was pretty scarce, just a few families along the way to share our picnic atrium space with.
After about a 40 minute ascent, the view is definitely well worth it!
The way back down we decided the steeper of the two paths was a better choice, and we were granted with more great views to take in!
When the sun sets across the view from the Jiufen road, the ambience just keeps getting better!
Be ready for crowds in Jiufen, any time of the year except on a non-holiday weekday.
Next trip, we are coming early or just going to stay the night!
Thanks for the great pictures, Courtney. They look like the Big Sur coastline complete with fog!!
I agree, thank you Liz!
What is the elevation? Cool that you can hike in the mountains! Looks like a lot of fun and so great to be out in nature! It must be warm since you are wearing just a tank top! Lucky you!
