It’s February 1st, 2014, Happy Chinese New Year!!

Day 3 of vacation we set off for the perched coastal city of Jiufen to tackle the highest point in the area for awesome coastal views. This doesn’t look like a difficult trek, though the main path is mostly straight up! So, prepare your calves well.

The Spring blossoms are starting to come out, gorgeous against the blue sky!
The uneven steep steps make it an interesting endeavor.

Despite the crowds in Jiufen, the mountain was pretty scarce, just a few families along the way to share our picnic atrium space with.IMG_7817

After about a 40 minute ascent, the view is definitely well worth it!

The way back down we decided the steeper of the two paths was a better choice, and we were granted with more great views to take in!IMG_7850
