A few years back, Taiwan needed all the book keepers to get their @*#@* together, so decided to incentivize the need for receipts.

The government said, let’s offer money to those who hold on to receipts in a lottery, yes! And thus, the wonderful institution was born.

There is no one exempt from this, I think even if you are passing through and happen to come across your luck during the bi-monthly period you can be reimbursed.

We haven’t hit the jackpot, and I truly do hope it goes to an organization that needs it (you can actually donate your receipts to those who need it most). Though a few extra dollars in my pocket and a cheap dinner out on the ‘government’ is always nice!

Thus, this is exactly what we did tonight. Yes! We were the proud recipients of NT$400 = US$13.00. A hearty, cheap dinner for two in Taiwan can be around NT$250, so we dined and reveled in the wonders of capitalism!

The winning receipts, each NT$200. (The lowest amount you can win, but I'm not complaining).
